Instructions for Authors

1. Submission Areas

The Journal publishes academic articles addressing theoretical and field-based research on (private) education broadly, with priority given to research on private tutoring. Submissions are welcomed from a wide range of disciplines, including education, business administration, psychology, and sociology.

(1) Early Childhood (Private) Education: theoretical and applied research on early childhood (private) education

(2) Elementary, Middle, and High School (Private) Education: theoretical and applied research on (private) education for primary and secondary school students

(3) (Private) Education for College Students and Adults: theoretical and applied research on (private) education for college students and adults

(4) Lifelong Education: theoretical and applied research on lifelong education

(5) Private Tutoring in Other Countries: studies on the status and conditions of private tutoring abroad, and international comparative studies

2. Manuscript Type

Manuscripts must present original research within the scope of submission areas and must not have been previously published.

3. Publication Schedule

The Journal of Private Tutoring Research is published twice a year, on April 20 and October 20.

4. Submission Period

(1) Manuscripts are accepted twice per year, from the publication date of the previous issue until the submission deadlines of February 20 and July 20.

(2) A confirmation notice will be sent for each received manuscript.

(3) When the number of manuscripts to be published in a given issue exceeds capacity, manuscripts may be carried over to the following issue in the order of receipt.

5. Submission Guidelines

(1) Upon submission, authors shall download the Institute's Journal Submission Template and complete it in accordance with the format, including the manuscript body, author information, and Research Ethics Compliance Confirmation Form.

(2) For co-authored manuscripts, the corresponding author—who will serve as the primary contact during the review process—shall be listed first, followed by the names of co-authors. Researcher information shall follow the Author Information Form.

(3) Each submission shall include an abstract (in both Korean and English), keywords (in both Korean and English; 2 to 4 keywords), and the author's name and affiliation (in both Korean and English). English names shall be written in the order of family name followed by given name (e.g., Hong, Gil-Dong).

(4) Authors shall ensure that the manuscript complies with the submission regulations of the Journal.

(5) Manuscripts shall be prepared using Hangul (HWP) 2010 or Microsoft Word and submitted through the Journal's Online Submission System (JAMS).

(6) Two manuscripts by the same author may not appear in the same issue.

6. Review and Publication Fees

(1) Upon manuscript submission, the review fee is temporarily waived. Exception provisions are described on the official website.

(2) Manuscripts accepted for publication shall be subject to a publication fee. Exception provisions are described on the official website.
• Manuscripts supported by research funding: KRW 300,000
• Manuscripts without research funding: KRW 200,000
• Manuscripts exceeding the standard length (20 pages): an additional KRW 10,000 per printed page

(3) Offprints of individual articles are not provided.

7. Copyright

(1) The copyright of all articles published in The Journal of Private Tutoring Research shall belong to the Korean Association of Private Tutoring Studies.

(2) Authors of accepted manuscripts shall submit a Copyright Transfer Agreement.

8. Author Ethics

(1) The Journal of Private Tutoring Research defines fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate submission, and duplicate publication during the processes of research planning, conduct, review, and reporting as research misconduct, and may take measures such as retraction of published articles and prohibition of future submissions.

(2) All authors shall submit a Research Ethics Compliance Confirmation Form together with their manuscript.

Submission Page Notice

(1) Upon manuscript submission, authors are requested to also submit a detailed plagiarism check result or similarity check result (e.g., from the KCI Plagiarism Check service) through the submission system.

(2) The manuscript review fee should be deposited to the Editorial Board's bank account at the time of submission.

Important Notes

• Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the Editorial Format of the Journal of Private Tutoring Research. Both the original file (with author information) and the review copy (with author information removed) must be submitted separately.

• If the length of a submitted manuscript significantly exceeds the standard length specified in the review regulations (20 pages), the Editorial Board may request revisions.

• The Korean Association of Private Tutoring Studies has established and implemented Research Ethics Guidelines to ensure research integrity. Authors are requested to comply with these guidelines.
